Why do you find fossils interesting?

Tom Rich: They give biology a fourth dimension. By analysing modern organisms, ancestral forms can be inferred. Fossils, on the otherhand, are our evidence of what actually was living in the past, not just an intelligent guess.

Pat Vickers-Rich: They're beautiful.

Lesley Kool: I have been quoted as saying that finding an exciting fossil is better than winning Tattslotto. This is true. I can't think of anything more exciting than breaking open a rock and seeing a dinosaur tooth or a bone that has been encased in that rock for the last 120 million years and you are the very first person in the whole world to see that fossil. Some people think I am crazy, but I don't care. It's what I love to do.

Nicola Barton: For the same reason as children, the fact that there are no certainties, but a lot of possibilities and because they help give us insight into the past.

Nick van Klaveren: It is not the fossils, but the thought of the animals they represent.

Nicole Evered: It's the greatest treasure hunt on earth.
